The Sunday Alliance Switzerland has joined the European Sunday Alliance (ESA). The Swiss Sunday alliance was formed by a trade union (Unia) on June 13, 2012, which was already a member of the ESA.
The Swiss chapter of the ESA is comprised of various entities, including Christian and non-Christian trade unions, Catholic, Protestant, Evangelical and other church groups, as well as political parties. The goal of the Sunday Alliance Switzerland is to promote laws that would protect a work free Sunday for the people of Switzerland. The Sunday alliance wants Sunday as a family day to promote work/life balance, the health of workers and social cohesion.
A work free Sunday is a substitute for God’s work free Sabbath as described in the Ten Commandments. The European Sunday Alliance and its chapters are applying to Sunday all the benefits that God intended to be gained from the observance of the seventh day Sabbath.
While they are not promoting legal worship on Sundays at the moment, the Bible tells us in Revelation 13:8 that worship will eventually become the main point. “All that dwell upon the earth shall worship him.” Promoting laws to guarantee a work free Sunday is a foundation to the later stages of Sunday worship laws.
“The law of God, through the agency of Satan, is to be made void… The contest will be decided over the Sabbath question, which will agitate the whole world.” Evangelism, p. 236
