Time Prophecy

Guidelines for Prophetic Interpretation

SCRIPTURE TO BE IT'S OWN INTERPRETER When dealing with symbolic language we must look to the scriptures themself for the meaning. The closer to the actual original setting the definition is found, the more likely it is to be the definition intended. For instance: if Revelation one says the stars represent angels, I'm not going to go to Genesis and say stars represent descendants.   Read More >>

Guidelines for Prophetic Interpretation

Day-Year Prophetic Principle

The true picture of our Saviour’s ministry in the heavenly sanctuary comes together like a puzzle. It has many pieces. When one views the whole picture all the pieces fit perfectly, but when the doctrine is under attack people will take one piece here and one piece there and try to change their shape and thus attempt to demolish the whole picture. One of those pieces is the day/year understanding.  Read More >>

1260 Days-Years

Biblical use of the 1260 day/years - Daniel 7.25 - ‘And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time. A Time = 1 year, Times = 2 years, Dividing of Times = 1/2 year. 360 X 3 =1080 180 = 1260  Read More >>

1260 Days-Years

1260, 1290, 1335 Day-Years

There are three time periods announced in Daniel chapter 12. Verse 7 mentions the three and a half times, (3 1/2 years, or 1260 days) verse 12 mentions the 1290 days and the 1335 days. Preterists tend to regard these as literal time, referring to events occuring 200 years before Christ. Futurists interpret these same time periods to relate to future events yet to happen, and also see them as literal time. Historicists, however, see these time periods as symbols standing for long periods of actual historical time. Historicists apply the year for a day principle to them.  Read More >>

The 1,290 and 1,335 Days of Daniel 12

The interpretation of the 1,290 days and 1,335 days of Daniel 12: 11, 12 as 1,290 years and 1,335 years respectively can be found already among the Jewish expositors of the eighth century A.D. This interpretation, based on the year-day principle (see Num 14:34; Ezek 4:6, 7), continued to be advocated by the followers of Joachim of Floris (1130-1202), as well as by several other expositors during the pre-Reformation, the Reformation, and the subsequent Protestant tradition.  Read More >>

When Did the 70 Weeks of Daniel 9:24 Begin

In this prophecy, God designated the time when the Messiah would come. It was to be marked off from the time of the event Daniel had been praying about, the rebuilding of Jerusalem. Gabriel said to Daniel, "Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the word to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks: the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times" (Dan 9:25).  Read More >>

The 70 Weeks and 457 B.C.

Establishing the specific date for the beginning of the prophecy of the seventy weeks of Daniel 9:24-27 is of great importance for Adventists as well as for those who find there a messianic prophecy. Identifying that date has been a challenging task for biblical scholars and consequently different dates have been suggested based on different interpretations of the biblical text.  Read More >>

The Beginning of the 490 years

In the year 536 B.C., 50,000 Jewish exiles, empowered by Cyrus' decree, returned to Jerusalem. Their city lay in ruins, but they began rebuilding the temple, laying its foundation and also began working on building their homes. One thing that catches the attention immediately in (Ezra 1-4) is that Ezra chapter four has a powerful message for us today. Restoration of truth is not easy! The opposition the Jews experienced while building, and the determined efforts to foil their hopes and dreams, acutely show the endurance which is needed to triumphant.  Read More >>

William Miller and 1844

A challenge to prove 1844 as Biblical was posted recently. Apparently several have taken up the challenge in previous discussions. I would like to share my perspective, for my own edification as well as a small hope that maybe it will help someone understand. Rather than taking out the charts, I would like to take you on a journey back to the early 1800's, back to William Miller's study. We must first try to understand the sequence of Miller's discovery on this subject.  Read More >>
